Wondering

Did you ever realize that our planet exists...
That we seceded from the union of oblivion?

Did you ever realize our forefathers established
the world we now actually live in on Earth?

Did you ever read Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo
or do you like Stanley Kubrick's movies?

Ever see his follow up to A Clockwork Orange
the movie Barry Lyndon starring Ryan O'neal?

Have you seen the silent film classic
The Man Who Laughs, starring Conrad Veidt?

Do you think the peerage of England,
as reflected upon in the pages of our history

as well as those of the world's greatest novelists
is something to be considered as having been real?

The real question remains, do you believe it still exists?
Peer into this, seer and tell us whose reflection you see.

Story Ended

 Hay fever seizes the accountability
of the narrative if the commentator
becomes susceptible to this malady.

We live in fear of being forced
to tell our stories under conditions
not best for remembering them.

It's a systemic emotion bred
and  ritualized into us over the course
of many subsequent generations.

There arrives a point where the terror
no longer registers anymore and so here
it comes triggered weakly within.

So that the detonation of silence
opens a clustering sky for a garden
from which to hang tears individually.

I don't think it's possible for the story
to have ended, really, not here
today, nor there tomorrow.

Questions for the Dispossessed

Did you follow the transom to the end of the aisle
Did you wonder what made you forget how to smile
Did you pay for the ransom at the start of the deal
with a fortune in credit to help feed the wheel
When it was your turn did you give it a spin
with all that you've got that you thought was real
Did you slowly begin to feel it would rot
as it developed out there in the open
unless you could find it a place to rest?
Even if this remained unspoken
the outcome would be for the best.
